Action Plans can get convoluted when they are built to include branching paths for incident response. In addition to requiring a significant amount of repetitive work to recreate similar workflows, editing production Action Plans changes them in real-time, which necessitates down-time for associated alarm intake.
At minimum, the ability to duplicate an Action Category and/or Plan would be a great feature to allow users to quickly stand up similar processes or create a new version or a process without affecting the version in production until it's completed and tested.
In addition to this feature, an "Edit Mode" where a user can make uncommitted changes to an existing action category/plan would be an excellent tool. As an idea for how this might work, the user can edit the existing actions with some visual indicator of what's changed and what hasn't without changing the production plan for other users in the system until they are committed.
In addition to allowing the creator and their designees to manually test the new flow before finalizing it, this functionality could perhaps be leveraged to also implement an A/B testing tool for production alarms and/or an ability to roll back to an older version if an unexpected issue pops up in the real-world application of the changes.
