The Device Event Test feature provides an automated method for verifying alarms are working between compatible devices and Sureview. Sureview will periodically send a request to the device to trigger an alarm and then will confirm the receipt of that alarm.
If a test event is not received within the expected timeframe, Sureview automatically generates a Health Alert to notify operators of a potential communication failure.
If a following test succeeds then another alarm will trigger so operators know that the device is working again.
Configuration
These settings are managed within the Device Setup screen when editing a compatible device.
Interval (in minutes):
Defines how often Sureview should automatically request a test signal from the device.
Recommended Value: 10 minutes
Timeout (in seconds)
The duration Sureview waits for the test alarm to be received before flagging a failure.
Recommended Value: 10 seconds
Trigger Event Test - Manual Testing
You can manually initiate a check at any time using the Trigger Event Test button.
Note: This button becomes active only after you have saved an initial Interval and Timeout value.
Clicking the button sends an immediate request to the device. Since the test runs as a background process, the Device Setup screen will not show the results To verify the result, check the Alarm Event Queue:
Success: No alarm will be triggered (unless restoring a pre-existing failure)
Failure: If the test fails, a failure alarm will trigger in the queue, identical to an automated test failure.
Compatible Devices
A device's support page will list in the "Features" section if it supports "Device Test". If a system doesn't support Event Test (or it isn't enabled) the Event test box will not appear in Device Setup.
If the Integration lists "Event Test" as as supported feature on it's support page but you do not see the Event Test box in Device Setup Please contact SureView Support so we can enable this feature for you.
