Data Retention
Administrators can customise how long Event Data and Event Media Clips are stored in your SureView Ops account before being automatically deleted in the Organization Settings Page.
The age of the Event is based on when the Event was first created "Event Start Time" (i.e. when the first Alarm in the Event was triggered)
Note: It can take up to 24 hours for a changed data retention setting to take affect
Days to retain non-preserved events (Default: 365 days)
How long should text event data (the audit trail) be stored. Any events older than the given value will be automatically and permanently deleted.
Events that are marked as "Preserved" are retained indefinitely (or until the event has been removed from preservation)
Days to retain non-preserved events media (Default: 90 days)
How long should any associated event media data (e.g. alarm clips) be stored. Any media older than the given value will be automatically and permanently deleted.
Events that are marked as "Preserved" are retained indefinitely (or until the event has been removed from preservation)
Preserving Events - Manually
Required Permission: CanPreserveEvents - "Allows the user to download related media for an event in a Situation Report in Event Search"
An Event can be set to be "Preserved" so that it won't be automatically deleted once it's older than the set retention period.
To do this a user (with the appropriate permissions) should:
- Go to the Event Search page
- Find the Event that they want to Preserve
- Click the blue "Preserve" button in the top right corner of the screen
Preserving Events - Automatically
Event Categories can be set to automatically preserve events in your history.
This option should be used cautiously and only for your most serious incidents—where it's important to retain the history beyond your normal preferences or time-frames.
Events categorized in this way will not be cleared out until the "Preserved" flag is manually removed from the Event.
