Standards Based: Live Video Configuration

Standards based integrations use RTSP (Live Video) and Email/SMTP (Alarms) and is available for all SureView Response subscribers.

Configuring Your Device 

The following are instructions for configuring the manufacturer's devices. These instructions are provided as a guide only. Please refer to the manufacturer's website for the latest user manuals for your device.

 

In HikVision

HikVision setup can differ between different versions and models, the below steps are a general guide only.

Set your camera streams to use H.264

  1. Login to your HikVision Device
  2. Go to the "Configuration" screen
  3. Go to the Video configuration screen
  4. Select your Camera in the "Channel No" drop down
  5. In "Video Type" select "Substream"
  6. Make sure the Video Encoding is set to "H.264"
  7. Save and repeat steps 3-7 for each of your HikVision Cameras

In SureView

Add Your HikVision Cameras

To configure Live Video Follow the steps on the Video Device Setup support page

make sure to set the port 554 (default RTSP Port) and the RTSP URL (extra value) to:

Streaming/Channels/{#}02
Note: the 02 indicates the Substream number you want to stream. This selected stream must be set to h.264

 

Standards Based: Email Alarm Configuration

In SureView

Add  your HikVision into SureView by following the SureView Email Alarm Setup support page.

Once complete copy the email address for use in HikVision

In HikVision

  1. Login to your HikVision Device
  2. Go to the "Configuration" screen
  3. Go to your Networking Configuration - Email section
  4. Enter the "Direct to Ops" SMTP Server Details - See SMTP Support Page
  5. In the TO/From Address: Enter the unique email address created when you setup the alarm point in SureView
  6. Enable "Attached Image" to include an alarm snapshot or clip
  7. Configure your alarming cameras / detectors as required - Making sure to select "Send Email" as the alarming option.

Native Integration: Live Video Configuration

The HikVision Native Integration includes additional functionality that is not available in the "Standards Based" approach.  This is a Class 1 integration and requires a Device Server.

 

To configure Alarms, please follow the steps in the "Standards Based - Email Alarm Configuration" section

 

 HikVision - Identify the correct video ports

  1. Login to the HikVision Device's web interface
  2. Go to the "Configuration" section
  3. Go to the "Network" section
  4. "Go to the "Port" section
  5. Make a note of the two ports:
  6. RTSP Port (default 554)
  7. Server Port (default 8000)

HikVision - Identify your Camera Numbers

When setting up cameras their camera number ("input1") needs to be configured based on the type of camera channel. Analogue Cameras start at "1" and IP Cameras start at "101"


Analogue Camera 1 = Sureview Camera 1
Analogue Camera 2 = Sureview Camera 2
Analogue Camera 3 = Sureview Camera 3
IP Camera 1 = Sureview Camera 101
IP Camera 2 = Sureview Camera 102
IP Camera 3 = Sureview Camera 103


You can check the numbering of your cameras in the HikVision's native / web interface.

  1. Login to HikVision
  2. Go To Configuration
  3. Go to Video/Audio
  4. Click the camera drop down to see the list of your connected cameras and their numbers

In the example below

[A2] = Analogue 2 = SureView Camera (Input1): 2
[A3] = Analogue 3 = SureView Camera (Input1): 3
[A4] = Analogue 4 = SureView Camera (Input1): 4
[A5] = Analogue 5 = SureView Camera (Input1): 5
[D1] = Digital (IP camera) 1 = SureView Camera (Input1): 101

SureView - Setup the Device

Note: HikVision is an advanced integration and must be configured using the using advanced "Device Setup" page

 

Go to the Device Setup screen and use the "Add Device" button to add your HikVision device. You should use the following details

Field Value
Title The friendly name of the Hikvision  you are connecting to
Area The Area/site that the HikVision devices/cameras will be added to
Type Select "HikVision (On-Premise)"
Ops Link The name of your connected Device Server
Host The local IP address of the Hikvision (from the perspective of the Device Server)
Port The Server Port of your HikVision. (Default 8000)
Username Your Hikvision username
Password Your Hikvision password
Enable Sub Stream:

false = use main stream
true = use substream

 

Once the details have been configured use the "Get Configuration" feature to automatically set up your Cameras and Audio devices.

Make sure to only select hte cameras you want to import based on the "HikVision - Identify your Camera Numbers" section above.

 

Native Integration: Troubleshooting

500 Action 'CameraStartLive()' failed: Error: Channel number error. There is no corresponding channel number on the device

If you see the above error when trying to connect to a camera (this will be shown in the health history in the Status section) - this likely means you have entered the wrong Camera Input Number during Setup

Double check your camera "Input" numbers in SureView , making sure they match the SureView format

Analogue Cameras should be numbered 1,2,3 etc

Digital/IP Cameras numbered 101,102,103
